It’s my second Thanksgiving on this blog! Crazy how almost two years have past since I’ve first started this lil’ site. I’m still trying to get the hang of blogging but I’m so excited to share this day with you guys! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday – eating food, spreading joy, hanging out with loved ones – it’s what the holiday season is all about!
We ended up spending Thanksgiving Day in the city this year, and we tried to take full advantage of this opportunity. We woke up super early to catch the Macy’s Day Parade and walked around Grand Central Station. Sometimes I forget how magical of a city New York is, especially around the holidays. It was pretty chilly and very crowded, so we didn’t snap a lot of pictures, but it was so exciting just to be there. Five years (and counting) in the city and this was my first Macy’s Day Parade!! We read that Herald Square was going to be packed and so we decided to try our luck a little more uptown and ended up watching one balloon go by every five minutes, fifty people deep. Although it was super crowded, you can tell everyone was in the holiday spirit, singing and dancing to Christmas music and having a lively time. Definitely an experience to remember!
Thanksgiving meal is definitely one of my favorite things to cook and I go a liiittle over the top each time I get the chance to make it. I love making my salted caramel apple pie each year around this time. It’s always a hit around the house – the salted caramel gives a slight twist on a timeless classic and the leftovers are so yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I also opted for two Cornish hens with stuffing instead of a large turkey because it cooks so much faster and it’s so much easier than tending to a turkey for hours and hours!
Even though I could talk about food for hours, Thanksgiving is a holiday to reflect on things you’re thankful for, and I have so so much to be grateful this year:
- * I graduated college! And my parents, my mom in Las Vegas and my dad in Hong Kong came all the way to New York to visit me for a few days. It was so amazing for me to see them in my first “home” that’s truly my own.
- I’m so grateful for Jay, who moved in with me earlier this year. He’s always so supportive and kind and I’m super lucky to have found someone like him.
- We traveled so much this year, hitting some of my dream spots, like Bali, Paris and London. I’m heading back to Las Vegas end of December for Christmas, and we’re planning to spend a few days in LA after New Years!
- And ALL OF YOU GUYS! Our little Instagram fam grew by SO much this year that it’s kind of insane for me to imagine that y’all are here. But I’m so grateful and glad you are. So thanks for being here and being you and being a part of my life. I love you guys and I’m never going to take your love and support for granted. ❤️
