Hi, I’m Waikei! (pronounced “why-key”)
I am a 23 year-old Vegas native wandering the streets of NYC and LA. I am an avid ice cream eater, devout puppy petter, and committed adventurer.
With Waikei is a curation of all the things I love. I started this blog as a photo journal in early 2016, and it has quickly blossomed into a platform where I document my thoughts, adventures, and day-to-day life. Whether it’s fashion, hair, food, travel or even what books or TV shows I’m loving at the moment, you’ll find all of me in the pages of With Waikei.
I’m so glad you’re here! 🙂
FAQ
What type of camera do you use?
95% of our pictures are taken with the Canon Rebel T5 paired with the Canon EF 50mm lens. The other 5% comes from our iPhones, other cameras and the like.
What color do you dye your hair?
I don’t dye my hair. This crazy light brown-blonde end color is just from my hair lightening naturally over time/in the summer.
Do you wear false eyelashes? What mascara do you use?
I do not wear false eyelashes. As for mascara, I use Benefit’s They’re Real Tinted Eyelash Primer with Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara. I sometimes use Lancôme’s Cils Booster XL as a base to my mascara, also.
Can you give advice to anyone starting college soon?
Be goal oriented — take small steps and work hard every day. Keep in mind the “big picture,” aka what you want to achieve by the end of college, but also be flexible and allow yourself to seek different interests. College is a time to explore and get to know yourself better; you’re going to do amazingly.
How do you curl your hair? Is your hair naturally curly?
I wish my hair was naturally curly! Due to my Asian genes, I have slightly wavy/straight hair that pretty much dries exactly how it’s left, so I do curl it 3-5 times a week. You can see my every day hair tutorial here. A hair care routine is also in the works soon. 💇🏻
Who takes your pictures?
My very extremely talented (and patient) boyfriend!
What is the best way to reach you?
Feel free to shoot me an email anytime! I try to reply to all my emails, so even if I am a little slow in getting back to you, have faith. 🙂
